Daniel Baumgart from Germany volunteered for 1 month. He became impromptu football coach to the team from Jan and Oscar and St Patrick’s House. They all travelled down to Pattaya for the annual Shai Davis soccor competition, the boys came 3rd in the competition. Daniel also helped out supervising the kids swimming in the new pool and spending time with the boys at Jan and Oscar and St Patrick’s, and accompanying the kids on their holiday trip to Pattaya. We wish him well on his travels and hope to see him again.
Ben and Laurie Bollich from Oman came again this year for a visit. They know the children well and the kids loved having them back. This year they will move to Africa, but we hope to see them again at Sarnelli House. Ben has been instrumental in setting up the website Kids caring for Kids (www.kidscaringforkids.org) to help fundraise for the kids at Sarnelli House. Chris Sowerby and Mara both living in Oman with their families also came with Ben and Laurie for their first visit to Sarnelli House. They all came with donations and gifts from the school Ben and Mara work in. We thank them and all the children for their generosity.

Heema Unadket travelled from the UK, for 3 weeks of volunteering at Sarnelli House. It was her first visit and she arrived with lots of enthusiasm that was undimmed by the prospect of going back home to finish her PhD. The kids enjoyed Heema’s gentleness and kindness and also celebrating the madness of Songkran with her.

Courtney Tinsay spent almost 6 months volunteering at the Fr Ray Foundation in Pattaya, before coming to spend her last 2 weeks at Sarnelli House. As a seasoned volunteer she was a great help with the kids and they enjoyed the time she spent with them.

Linsey Pluckrose and Andy Eadsforth arrived on their annual visit and planned it perfectly to coincide with the Songkran celebrations. They threw water like everyone else was doing in Thailand and the kids loved having their old friends along to celebrate the Thai New Year. Trips to Tesco and to the pool were also included in the fun.

Debbie Willis and Sam Hennessey visited again on their 6 monthly visits. They came equipped with cooking lessons, trips to Tesco, card making and lots of other activities for the kids. We will miss them for the next school holidays in October but everyone hopes to see them again in 2011. Sam raised more than £2000 for Sarnelli House by swimming the equivalent of the English Channel (26 miles) in her local 25 metre pool over 10 days.
