Fr Chuck and Dok Rac
Father Chuck Beierwaltes has returned to Sarnelli House for 3 months. He is much loved by everyone here for his joy, warmth and love he spreads to all. Fr Chuck has been also been able to spread the word about Sarnelli House in the USA where he lives for the rest of the year, and so many children now have sponsors and communicate with them and feel loved and supported. Fr Chuck has also been helping Fr Shea out, by saying the Sunday mass in the small chapel at Sarnelli House in Thai. This is a courageous feat for someone not fluent in Thai. The children respond at all the right times and don’t even laugh much at the strange accent. Shopping outings to Lotus Tesco with children in tow and ice cream at Swensons afterwards, have been a real treat for the children during Fr Chuck’s visit. He has also visited and ministered to the children who have been admitted to Nongkhai Hospital and to the community of Good Shepherd Sisters in Nongkhai. He will be greatly and sadly missed until his next visit, but will be thought of often with happiness and laughter.
Dr Pamelyn Close MD, MPH from San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care, visited Sarnelli House for 2 days this month. Pam is currently a visiting scholar at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok in the Pediatric HIV/ Palliative Care field. She is completing a fellowship in Palliative Care after many years as a pediatric medical oncologist, and so it was wonderful to have her 20 years of pediatric experience at Sarnelli House. Pam was able to advise and make recommendations to the nursing team at Sarnelli House about the treatment of some of our sickest children; she has also donated the latest Thai text book on the management of HIV/AIDS in children, from Siriraj Hospital, that has been published for only 2 weeks, to Sarnelli House.

Werner Seibt and his friend Petra, both from Bonn in Germany visited Sarnelli House for 1 week this month. Werner has been a regular visitor to Sarnelli and although he has little Thai or English he gets on with all and his love for the children is evident. He organized a soccer game and BBQ during his stay and is fundraising in Germany for Sarnelli House. We wish him well until we see him again next year.
Marloes Brons a social worker from the Netherlands arrived for 2 weeks this month. She has been traveling around Asia and saw the Sarnelli House website and generously donated her time to come and help. She has been cooking with the girls at Nazareth House, teaching English, visiting the other houses and playing with the children, this has been appreciated by all the children and staff.

Brother Ole is in training to be a Redemptorist Priest, and is currently studying and working in the Philippines. He single handedly, amidst his studies began the official Sarnelli House website back in 2005. Brother Ole visited for 4 days and enjoyed visiting all the Sarnelli House projects and getting to know the children, he took many pictures to put on the website to keep the friends of Sarnelli House up to date of the happenings here. He is in the process of reviewing the website and we thank him for all his hard work as webmaster.
