March 2010 Visitors

Posted April 21, 2010

(pictured: Jim Snell and Auhn) Jim Snell from the USA came for his second visit. Jim participated in the Cebo Ride last year in the States and is planning to again this year. Unfortunately Jim’s month of volunteering was cut short by the death of his mother, however he experienced the life of Sarnelli with outreach visits, and outings with the kids to the aquarium and Nongkhai. We look forward to welcoming him again next year.

The guys from Reach Out came for a packed visit again. Chris and Ice bought Avatar the movie and their projector, and played it on a wall at St Patrick’s and the Jan and Oscar dining room. It was a great night with sweets, fizzy drinks and crazy English subtitles. They had games where the kids were blindfolded and they had to feed each other with a spoon. All the kids were in hysterics, it was very funny to watch, Lunch with BBQ fish, sticky rice and somtam was also enjoyed courtesy of Reach Out. Many thanks.

Lorcan Byrne from Ireland and Laura Cairney from Scotland, who are currently in Thailand for 1 year teaching English through a UK charity Project Trust, came to Sarnelli House in their holidays. They taught the kids English, organized activities and really immersed themselves in the kids’ lives. Their enthusiasm and willingness to participate were enjoyed by all.

Nadia Teres came for her second visit, from Switzerland. She is travelling around Asia and called in for 2 weeks. Nadia used her creative abilities and helped the kids with their drawing and painting and making cards.

Tom Hoyle and Jenny Lindsay visited from the UK and found also their creative spirit helping the kids make masks, clocks and plasticine figures. The kids enjoyed their visit and their spirit of fun.

Agathe Schutzle and Xavier Manz from Switzerland volunteered for 1 month and threw themselves into the kids’ daily activities. They spread themselves around and worked at all the houses, and found the energy to keep going with activities despite the heat and the relentless energy of the kids. We wish them well for the rest of their travels.
